Born in El Paso, TX, Keisha first discovered her love for drawing through exploring different hobbies. From horseback riding to drawing to reading and writing. Delving into the creative world while integrating activities that often were the opposite of what one would call “creative,” Keisha always found great joy in weaving the two ends of the spectrum together. This can be seen in her artwork by tying many “grounded” elements based on realistic ideas and interpretations with ideas and portrayals of aspects that are deeply rooted in imaginative and playful twists on ideas that we’ve all experienced or seen in our day to day lives.
Later in her adolescent years, Keisha spent the rest of her growing up in Houston, TX where she indulged in music, art, and picked up a new hobby of flying airplanes. There, she found a great passion in flying and seeing the world from a completely different perspective; fueling even more-so her sparks of imagination. From there, Keisha pursued her love of flying and followed that journey through attending the University of Oklahoma, studying aviation as a professional pilot, and later joining the United States Air Force Reserves to continue her flying while serving her country. Throughout her many endeavors, her love for art and fascination with interweaving the ordinary with pops of the unordinary remained with her; finding her in challenging times that provided a grounding outlet while reminding her of the small flame of creativity that lie within her, which brought her to begin sharing her art with those around her. Through coming back to herself through her art, she was able to do what she loved and share that with those that resonated with her pieces.
